Valley. Leaves Many Relatives.
Bostic, R-2, June 10. - Mr.
Jefferson D. Houser, better known
as "Jeff", 79, died at his home in
Golden Valley Friday at 5 p. m.
following a three months' illness.
A large crowd attended the funeral
and burial Sunday at 2 p. m.
at the First Broad Baptist church.
Rev. Seth Ivester, pastor was in
charge. Mr. Houser was first
married to Miss Ada Long. To this
union six children were born, five
of who survive as follows: Joe
and Will Houser, Asheville; Spurgeon
Houser, Akron Ohio; Mrs.
Joe Logan, Casar and Mrs. Cle
Rollins, Bostic.
After Mrs. Houser's death he
married Miss Alice Long, sister of
the first Mrs. Houser, who survives
with six children, viz: Mal
Houser, Asheville; Mrs. Bedford
Beatty, Mrs. Julius Hensley, Mrs.
Fred Brackett, Fred and Dewird
Houser, all of Spindale. Forty-one
grandchildren and one great-grandchild
also survive.
Mr. Houser was a most excellent
citizen and enjoyed a wide
circle of friends and relatives. He
was a devoted member of the First
Broad Baptist church and has
been a deacon of that church for
many years. He was born and
reared in Golden Valley. He is the
last of his family.

Well Known Golden Valley Lady Died in Spindale Monday.
Many Relatives
Funeral Services for Mrs.
Alice Houser, 68, were held at the First
Broad Baptist church Wednesday
at 3 p. m. Rev. B. H. Parker and
Rev J. W. Ray were in charge of
funeral services. Prof. J. A. Leslie
of Spindale was in charge of
the music. A large crowd attended.
Mrs. Houser died Monday in
Spindale at the home of a daughter,
Mrs. J. B. Beatty after a
year's illness.
Surviving are four daughters,
Mrs, J. B. Beatty and Mrs. J. H.
Hensley of Spindale, Mrs. Fred
Bracket of Golden Valley, and
Mrs. Vernie Hunt of Asheville;
three sons, Fred Houser of Spindale,
Deweird Houser of Casar,
Mal Houser of Detroit; two brothers,
two sisters, and five step children.
Mrs. Houser was a well known
and much beloved lady. She had
been a member of the First Broad
church for 41 years.
