David Jackson Logan (September 22, 1837 - June 18, 1864) was buried with his wife Sarah Rowell Logan (February 15, 1839 - April 26, 1904) in the Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemtery in York County, SC. He was the son of John Randolph Logan and Sarah Patterson Jackson, and the great-grandson of the Revolutionary War soldier William Logan.
David Jackson Logan was born in Cleveland County, NC and was living in York County, SC when he volunteered in 1861 to fight for the Confederacy in the Civil War. He served as Lieutenant with Company F, 17th Regiment, South Carolina Volunteers. He was killed by an enemy sharpshooter near Petersburg, Virginia on June 18, 1864. His body was brought home for burial by his slave Jim who had accompanied him to the battlefield.
David Jackson Logan was the subject of the 1998 book A Rising Star of Promise, The Civil War Odyssey of David Jackson Logan by Samuel N. Thomas, Jr. and Jason H. Silverman.
