Records naming Margaret/Peggy Newton Goins:

The original records I have found naming Margaret/Peggy Newton Goins are as follows:

Jane Adkins estate

Jane Goins, one of the children of Robert Goins and Margaret Newton, married John Aikens/Adkins. Both Lorenzo Patterson Newton and Posey Downs indicated that John and Jane left no children. Jane Adkins died having survived her husband and left the following estate file in Cleveland County NC:

The estate file confirms that Jane had died by July 1889 and left no children. Since she had no children, her siblings became her heirs-at-law. The estate file therefore names her siblings as A.N Goins, Martha Queen, and Nancy White. And since Nancy White was deceased at that time, the estate file further names the heirs of Nancy White. The following is point 4 from the 3 August 1891 statement by J.D. Lattimore found in the estate file. This statement serves as proof of the four siblings within the family:
4. That A. N. Goins was the brother of the intestate.
and Martha Queen was the sister of the instestate both
of who are now living; that Nancy White dec'd was
another sister of the intestate and the heirs of sad Nancy
White are as follows: W. V. White, Alfred White, Andrew
White, Elizabeth Elmore wife of Ben Elmore, Hulda
Newton wife of Geo. Newton, Fannie Horton wife of Alfred
Horton, Elmina Newton wife of Eli Newton, the child
of Graham White dec'd if any living, and the three children
of Patsey Newton dec'd wife of Eli Newton viz: Graham
and Alfred Newton & Sarah Wortman wife of Arch Wortman
that upon their heirs-at-law land above described descended.
Note that this statement lists Elmina Newton's husband as Eli Newton, but other sources including Posey Downs list her husband as Andrew J. Newton.

Census Records:

I have not found Robert Goins named in any census entry. But below are the census entries I have found which name Robert's father Alexander Goins, and his wife Margaret/Peggy Goins.

Note that the 1850 census entry for Margaret Gowens (dwelling 1395) includes her apparent children Jane and Albert N [Alfred N] within the household. These are very likely the Jane Adkins and A.N. Goins identified as 2 of the 4 siblings in the Jane Adkins estate file. This provides indirect evidence that Nancy White and Martha Queen were also children of Margaret who had already moved away from home at that time. Nancy White was listed immediately next door to Margaret at that time in the household of her husband Stephen White (dwelling 1394). And Martha Queen was listed nearby in the household of her husband Charles Queen (dwelling 1375).

The following record naming Nancy Gowen is probably Nancy Newton (sister of Margaret/Peggy Newton Goins) who married Daniel Goins (brother of Robert Goins):
